Scroll down to learn about the pool building process. Keep in mind that these are general steps for a Gunite pool build and procedures and materials may by vary by region. Contact your local Aquatech builder for a details specific to your backyard.
The first step is dreaming up your new pool. Our pool designer will work with you to determine size, shape and features of your dream pool. You should also think outside the pool and plan for landscaping, BBQs, patios, etc. Aquatech pool builders specialize in creating a full backyard experience.
Digging the hole for your pool may require us to remove a section of wall or fence for access. Depending on the soil condition of your yard, a soil report may be required.
We will be digging trenches to accommodate piping and placing steel reinforcements. If you must walk in your backyard, please do not allow dirt or debris to fall into the trenches, cover the pipes or fill in areas under the steel. During this stage, we will also need access to your outside electrical panel to begin the electrical hook-up.
Shotcrete/gunite are used to create your pool’s shell. Once the shell is formed, it is important that the surface be watered for seven to ten days.
Any tile or rockwork will be started after the shell is complete. Please be sure to have settled on your selections prior to excavation when possible.
Now it’s time to form, pour and coat the deck. After your deck is poured, please do not walk on it for 24 hours. Coatings and treatments are applied after the deck is dry. Some brands may lighten in color gradually over the next 30 days.
Before plastering, we will need to prep the pool, place fittings and clean it out. After the pool has been plastered, the plastering crew will leave a hose in the pool to fill it with water. Do not add anything but fresh water, and make sure that the fill line is not connected to a water softener. It is also important to fill the pool as quickly as possible and never turn off the water supply to avoid bathtub lines.
After the pool is full of water, initial chemicals will be added. You should begin brushing your pool twice a day for the first week to ensure a great final appearance.
Any remaining hardscape and landscape work is completed. Welcome to your very own, private oasis courtesy of Aquatech.
